Mountains represent intractable barriers and lofty challenges for adventurers, while water cycles through its myriad forms to nourish life. The recognition of their physical and aesthetic interactions encouraged the Chinese to combined these two individual elements of "mountain" 山 and "water" 水 to define "landscape" 山水. These collections of photographs are offered in celebration of the outdoors and as encouragement for others to explore.
